Mulloway | Argyrosomus hololepidotus

The Mulloway is also known as Jewfish, Silver Jewfish, School Jew, River Kingfish, Butterfish and Soapies. The overall body colour of the Mulloway is Silvery bronze however this will vary with the location and age of the fish, Mulloway can also exhibit a silvery green to deep bronze body colour with hues of purple and blue this progresses down to a silvery white belly area. When caught mulloway have a series of silver white spots long the lateral line the spot soon fade after death, other distinctive features are the vivid orange inside the mouth and also a black spot at the base of the pectoral fin. The fins of the Mulloway are greyish brown in appearance the caudal fin is slightly convex. Mulloway are a large fish and can grow to approximately 1.8mtr and 60kg however catches up to 30kg are more common.
