Species Name: Prionurus microlepidotus
Description
The Sawtail surgeonfish is also known as Sixplate Sawtail, Surgeon and Sawtail. The body colour of the Sawtail Surgeonfish is greyish brown to silver grey in colour. They have a very small mouth for the size of their body. When caught care should be used while handling this fish as it has a row of five or six dark sharp scutes near the tail fin similar to a GT. The Sawtail Surgeonfish can grow to 10kg and more than 70cm in length however fish to 3kg are more common.
